For the Friday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 I found the only solo hit from Cars front man Ric Ocasek. You can hear it again Saturday night on Absolutely 80’s with Nina Blackwood it’s “Emotion in Motion”.
From the 1978 to 1988 The Cars recorded 13 top 40 hits, the biggest being “Shake It Up”, “You Might Think”, and “Drive” a song that was the only solo hit for Benjamin Orr of the band. Ric Ocasek released his first solo project in ’86 called “This Side of Paradise”, “Emotion in Motion” was the only chart hit for Ric as the tune went to #15 on the charts.
Sadly the two members of The Cars who had solo hits have passed away. Benjamin Orr who sang “Drive” died from cancer in 2000 at the age of 53. And Ric Ocasek died in September of 2019 at the age of 75.
