This Sunday morning at 8 on American Top 40 the 80’s Casey Kasem features the top songs from March 28th, 1987! One of the songs you’ll hear on the countdown is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Huey Lewis & the News it’s “Jacob’s Ladder”.
The song was written by Bruce Hornsby and his brother John and was originally written to be a Bruce Hornsby and the Range tune, but he didn’t like their version, so he suggested Huey Lewis & the News record it. A great suggestion! The song was the third hit from their 1986 album “Fore” and the song went all the way to #1 on the charts.
The song stuck out to me because my son Jacob is freaking out because Iowa is playing in the Sweet 16 tonight vs. Nebraska! As Harry Chapin once said in “Cats in the Cradle”, “my boy was just like me”! Go Hawks!
Check out a live performance of Huey Lewis & the News with “Jacob’s Ladder”. The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
