This morning on the Waters Wake-Up Call, Mike was featuring dance tunes. So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 how about the Pointer Sisters with “Neutron Dance”!
The song was recorded for their 1983 album “Break Out” which featured the hits “Automatic” and “Jump (For My Love)”. But it wasn’t until the song was featured on the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop that it really exploded. Pun intended!
Ruth Pointer wasn’t that excited about singing a song with “Neutron” in it, thinking about atomic bombs, but the songwriters told her to stop thinking so much about it, and to sing the song. They did and it became a world-wide hit and a #6 song in 1985.
It’ll get you movin’, it’s the Pointers with “Neutron Dance”! The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. Check them out at honeycreekfurniture.com.
