After last night (this morning’s) classic World Series game that ended with walk-off homer by Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers in the 18th inning, it was also on this date in 1981 that (go figure) the Dodgers won the 1981 World Series defeating the Yankees (again go figure) in 6 games. So today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was on the charts today in ’81 from Atlanta Rhythm Section it’s “Alien”.
The Southern rock band was formed in 1970 and found their biggest success with their 1978 “Champaign Jam” album which was certified platinum. In their career they released 15 albums and recorded 7 top 40 hits, the biggest being the #7 hits “Imaginary Lover” and “So Into You”. “Alien” was their final top 40 hits reaching #29 on the charts.
From back when Fernando-mania took over the Dodgers in 1981, I found a live performance of “Alien” by Atlanta Rhythm Section. Today’s Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
