105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows every weekend!  This Saturday from 9 to noon join Casey Kasem for the top songs from October 9th, 1976, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from KC & the Sunshine Band with “Shake Your Booty”!

Harry Wayne Casey formed the band in South Florida in 1973 and started receiving some radio airplay in their hometown of Miami, by 1975 their success went national with their #1 hit “Get Down Tonight”, they followed that up with another #1 later that year with “(That’s the Way) I Like It”.

In 1976 “Shake Your Booty” became their 3rd #1 hit, even as it came with a little big of controversy.  Many people though the lyrics had sexual meaning, but as KC put it, he was looking to inspire those people on the dance floor to get out there and get moving!

KC & the Sunshine Band will perform at the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids on Sunday, November 9th, tickets are on sale now.  In the meantime, enjoy their Soul Train performance of “Shake Your Booty”, it’s today’s Forgotten 45 sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store.  You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
