For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we wish a very Happy 78th Birthday to the legendary Don Henley! From his second solo album “Building the Perfect Beast” it’s “Sunset Grill”.
Of course you might have heard about Don’s work in a little band called Eagles. He sang lead on classics like ‘Witchy Woman”, “Hotel California”, “The Long Run” and so many more great songs. In 1982 he released his first solo album “I Can’t Stand Still”, which features the hit “Dirty Laundry” and in November of 1984 he released the triple platinum follow up “Building the Perfect Beast”.
The album delivered four top 40 hits including “The Boys of Summer”. “Sunset Grill” was fourth hit becoming a top ten rock hit and a #22 pop hit featuring Patty Smyth on background vocals and Randy Newman arranged the synthesizers on the track.
