Happy Birthday to Barry Manilow who is 82 years old today! In celebration, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was his very first hit, “Mandy”.
The Brooklyn native got his start writing some of the most iconic commercial jingles of all-time for State Farm (Like a good neighbor…), Band-Aid (I am stuck on Band-Aid), McDonalds, Dr. Pepper and more.
He went on to become one of the best selling solo artists of all-time, with sales of over 85 million and 25 Top 40 hits. It’s hard to believe it’s been 50 years since “Mandy” went to #1 in January of 1975.
