Happy Friday! For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, I found a song you can hear again on this Sunday’s edition of Retro Pop Reunion from 4-8pm on 105.7 KOKZ, it’s from the Thompson Twins with “Lies”.
Like yesterday’s Forgotten 45 band ABC, the Thompson Twins hail from Sheffield, England, the trio recorded 7 top 40 hits in the United States, their biggest hit being “Hold Me Now”. “Lies” was their first hit, reaching #30 on the pop charts, and #1 on the dance chart in early 1983.
Tom Bailey said the idea for the chorus of the song was something you might have heard on a school playground growing up, but then they broadened it out to the issues of the world. The video is classic 80’s and you can check out “Lies” by the Thompson Twins, today’s Forgotten 45!
