This Saturday morning at 9 105.7 KOKZ brings you another classic American Top 40 from the 70’s! This weekend Casey Kasem features the top songs from October 26th, 1974 and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 can be heard again Saturday, from Elton John it’s “The Bitch is Back”.

The song of course was written by Elton and his long-time writing partner Bernie Taupin, but the idea to create the song was inspired by Bernie’s wife at the time who commented whenever Elton was in a bad mood “the bitch is back”!

Several radio stations refused to play the song because of the “B” word, but it didn’t stop the song from being a top 5 hit and becoming a gold record selling over 500,000 copies!  Elton commented “some radio stations in America are more puritanical than others.”

It’s not forgotten, but it’s not a song that gets played as much any more.  Check out Elton live at Dodger Stadium with “The Bitch is Back” today’s Forgotten 45.
