Nina Blackwood is your host for Absolutely 80’s every Saturday night from 9 to midnight on 105.7 KOKZ!  This is one of the great 80’s tunes you’ll hear tomorrow night, our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from Jan Hammer with the Miami Vice Theme!

It was first presented as part of the show in September 1984 but was released as a single in ’85, the song went all the way to #1 and was the last instrumental to do so until the “Harlem Shake” in 2013. Alone with Glenn Frey’s “You Belong to the City”, the Miami Vice Soundtrack album also went to #1 for 11 weeks, making it the most successful TV soundtrack of all time until High School Musical beat the record.

The music video is a mini-episode of the TV series with Hammer as a fugitive on the run from Crockett and Tubbs. Throughout the majority of the video, Hammer performs the theme in front of a projector screen playing footage from the TV series – including scenes of the Vice duo chasing him.

The song & video are soooooo 80’s!  Enjoy Jan Hammer with the Miami Vice Theme, today’s Forgotten 45!
