This Saturday morning at 9, 105.7 KOKZ brings you American Top 40 the 70’s as Casey Kasem features the top songs from October 1st, 1977. It’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Carly Simon with “Nobody Does It Better”.
The power ballad was the theme song for the James Bond movie “The Spy Who Loved Me” and it was the first Bond song to be titled differently than the movie since “Dr. No” in ’62, though “the spy who loved me” is of course in the lyrics.
One of the biggest Bond themes, the song spent three weeks at #2 blocked by Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life”. It was also nominated for an Academy Award & Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song losing to, you guessed it, Debby Boone!
“Nobody Does It Better” ended up being the longest charting hit ever for Carly Simon, even longer than her legendary #1 hit “You’re So Vain” and it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
