It was on this date three years ago that the legendary Kenny Rogers passed away at the age of 81.  And while this song is certainly not forgotten, it was his biggest hit, so I thought I’d play it today on the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, from Kenny Rogers, it’s  “Lady”.

In his legendary career, Kenny charted over 120 hits on various charts, and is one of the best selling and most popular singers of all-time.  “Lady” was written and produced by a guy you might have heard of, Mr. Lionel Richie.  Kenny said the idea was Lionel would come from R & B, he would come from country, and they’d meet at pop!

Well to say it worked would be an understatement.  “Lady” was a 6 week #1 song in late 1980 into early ’81 and it became the first song of the 80’s to chart on the Country, Hot 100, Adult Contemporary, and Soul charts!

We remember Kenny Rogers with this live performance of “Lady” today’s Forgotten 45.
