The legendary Neil Diamond is celebrating his 82nd birthday today, so to celebrate, we go back to 1972 for “Song Sung Blue”.
One of the best-selling singers of all-time Neil Diamond has sold over 130 million records world-wide, and “Song Sung Blue” was one of his ten #1 songs. Born in Brooklyn, Neil would go on to attend New York University on a fencing scholarship, but found he was often bored in class, and enjoyed writing song lyrics more. Just ten credits shy of graduation, he was offered a job writing songs for $50 a week. He took the job and rest is music history.
Check out a live performance of “Song Sung Blue” by Neil Diamond, today’s Forgotten 45.
