To wrap up this shortened holiday week, we go back to 1986 for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Lionel Richie with “Dancing on the Ceiling”.
You can hear the song again Sunday afternoon on part 2 of the Top 100 Songs of 1986 on American Top 40 from noon to 4. The song was the title track from his third solo album and it reached #2 in the Fall of ’86.
Blender Magazine rated the song as one of the worst songs of all-time, and while the song is silly and the video just oozed 80’s the fact is, the tune was a world-wide hit and continued Lionel’s dominating success in the decade.
