Happy Wednesday! This Saturday morning from 8 to Noon we bring you American Top 40 the 70’s from November 3rd, 1979. Yesterday I featured “Sail On” by the Commodores, today another song from that countdown, The Knack with “Good Girls Don’t”.
I still remember buying my copy of “Get the Knack” at Reif’s in beautiful downtown Kalona. “My Sharona” was a monster hit and so was the album that spent 5 weeks at #1, and went on to platinum status.
“Good Girls Don’t” was the follow-up hit to “My Sharona” and was a #1 hit in Canada and reached #11 on the US charts. As quickly as they went up the charts, they were soon forgotten, and weren’t able to recreate the magical success of their debut album.
Sadly lead singer Doug Fieger passed away in 2010 of cancer at the age of 57 in Los Angeles.
Take a trip back to ’79 with The Knack with today’s Forgotten 45!
