In the 80’s movies and music went together like peanut butter and jelly. The whole decade was filled with great soundtracks and songs tied to movies we still love today. This Sunday from 8 to noon, we feature August 31st, 1985 on American Top 40 and it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 from Tina Turner “We Don’t Need Another Hero”.
Coming off the huge success of her Private Dancer, Tina recorded “Hero” for Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome starring Mel Gibson and she also starred in the film. The song went on to become one of her biggest worldwide hits hitting #2 on the charts in 1985 and stopped from being #1 by another movie song, John Parr’s “St. Elmo’s Fire”.
