KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 every weekend and this Sunday morning from 8 to noon, Casey Kasem counts down the top 40 songs from June 30th, 1984. That was prime Michael Jackson time and I found today’s Forgotten 45 from this show, The Jacksons & Mick Jagger with “State of Shock”.
Due to the incredible success of his Thriller album, the Jackson brothers reunited for the “Victory” album which included “State of Shock”, the song went to #3 on the US charts. The song was originally recorded with Freddie Mercury as Michael and Freddie had been working on several tracks at that time. The final version featured lead vocals by Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. As an artist, Mick respected Jackson’s work, and “State of Shock” was the last top ten hit for The Jacksons and their last single to be certified gold.
