it’s been a fun week on the Forgotten 45, we’ve featured songs from Don Johnson, Steve Martin, Bruce Willis, and David Soul. For the Friday Forgotten we go back to 1986 for Eddie Murphy’s “Party All the Time” a perfect Friday afternoon song!
The song was written and produced by Rick James and reached #2 on the charts, blocked from #1 by Lionel Richie’s “Say You Say Me”. Eddie said the song was recorded on a $100,000 bet with Richard Pryor on on whether or not Eddie had singing talent.
Of course Eddie was a breakout star on Saturday Night Live, as a comedian, and later as an actor starring in the Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places, 48 Hours, and was even the voice of Donkey on the Shrek movies. His films have grossed nearly 4 billion dollars in the States which ranks #6 all-time.
Enjoy Eddie Murphy with “Party All the Time”!
