I always find the back stories to how bands get discovered fascinating, and today’s is no exception.  It was on this date in 1976 that Aerosmith producer Jack Douglas, visiting relatives in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is persuaded by his brother-in-law to see an area band play at a local bowling alley.   That band?  Cheap Trick from nearby Rockford, Illinois.  Jack did seem and the very next day he called Tom Werman, the head of A&R for Epic Records, and urges him to sign the band (which he does), and the rest is history!

Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from the band, “Dream Police” hit #26 on the charts back in 1979 shortly after the huge break-through success of “I Want You To Want Me”.
