There’s something about tv, movies, and music that imprints moments in your life permanently in your memories, takes you to a specific place & time, and freezes people in time. One of my all-time favorite movies is “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, and today I was stopped in my tracks when I saw Matthew Broderick is 60. FERRIS BUELLER IS SIXTY?!
Admit it, even though we’ve seen Matthew Broderick in many other movies, tv shows, and plays, he’ll always be Ferris. A stone cold John Hughes classic movie with midwestern ties to Chicago, a place many of us have spent lots of time in (Wrigley Field “hey batter batter batter, swing batter!”)
Ferris Bueller’s legacy lives on, my twenty-something kids love it. “Oh, he’s very popular Ed. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads – they all adore him. They think he’s a righteous dude!”
Happy Birthday Ferris, I mean Matthew and Danke Schoen!
