Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from Canadian band Loverboy with “The Kid Is Hot Tonite” the 2nd and final single from their debut album that brought us “Turn It Loose”. The song will be on Absolutely 80’s on Saturday night.
After being turned down by several American record labels, the band out of Vancouver was signed by Columbia/CBS records in Canada. It was a smart move as Loverboy’s debut album sold over 2 million copies in the states and they remain on the road touring to this day.
The song stalled in the 50’s on the U.S. charts but was a top 20 hit in Candana and was certainly popular in Eastern Iowa plus it fits my Friday mood! Check out the band performing the song on American Bandstand.
