I’m looking forward to enjoying unlimited samples of the 50+ breweries coming to Amana on Sunday for Craft Beer Bash! I blogged about this last week, but as a reminder, our sister station Rock 108 will debut their own brew called Rock Bock. It is a classic style bock that is EXCELLENT! I mean it. If you know bocks and like the style, I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this tastym yet easy drinker. It’s also a perfect time for it as Fall is nearly upon us and this is a great beer for gatherings, tailgating, grilling or just hanging out with friends and family.
VIP ticket owners can enter at noon o start sampling before anyone else. I’ll be there then and look forward to seeing you and meeting you! Wanna talk beer? I’M IN! Please fee free to introduce yourself. I’ll be the guy that looks like this:

Out of Normal, IL, this anything but normal ale stand alone.
Destihl Brewery produces the Hawaii Five-Ale. A fruit juicy pale with a ton of flavor and a smooth finish.
It pours a light golden color with a white head that dissapates quickly. It’s not very carbonated unless you drink it from the can. Still then, it’s pretty lightly carbed. Nose is buttery with tropical fruit notes like the mango, pineapple and definitely guava. It’s a light aroma that covers a good blonde malt smell and pretty well balanced. Flavor is all fruit juice as I mentioned and butter. That extends into the the mouthfeel as it coats your mouth with a creamy finish that is very enjoyable, in my oipinion. Like you just had some custard. It’s certainly an easy drinker but the present alcohol note reminds you that this is not a run-of-the-mill 4 or 5% ABV. It’s pleasant 6.4%.
Award winning Toppling Goliath in Decorah has done it again (seems that they just KEEP doing it, doesn’t it?) and released a Fresh Batch series stout that looks as good as it sounds – S’mores Pastry Stout.
Just want to drool all over your shirt now, don’t you? Go ahead, I just did…
I’ll admit, anything S’mores flavored, I’ll be on top of… S’mores Pop Tars? Yep. S’mores Cereal? Yep. S’mores Pastry Stout? You betcha!!
I’ll be in the Decorah neck of the woods this Saturday so I’ll be droppping by to check it out and probably come home with some, as well.
