Roberta Flack – The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

After releasing a couple albums in the late 60s into the early 70s, Roberta Flack hadn’t gained much attention as her musical style was a kind of jazz/folk that couldn’t find an audience.
In 1972, thanks to the Clint Eastwood film, Play Misty For Me, the song featured a lovely, yet haunting “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, sung by Flack.
This was the beginning of an amzing career from an very unique and incredible vocalist, and rightly so.
The song topped the charts for six weeks in the US and even won a Grammy for Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year, beating out Don McLean’s “American Pie” in both categories!
