Mourning the loss of guitar hero, Jeff LaBar of Cinderella. He passed yesterday at 58.
Also, announced early this morning, Gary Corbett, keyboardist for bands like KISS and Cinderella, died after a battle with cancer.

Cinderella’s second album, ‘Long Cold Winter’ was a more mature sounding album than their debut, ‘Night Songs’, which I love!

While Tom Keifer was based in blues and used that as the main influence in Cinderella’s sound, the second album really had a more bluesy sound. Enough that one could easily hear it built into the 80s hard rock sound.

Four singles were released from ‘Long Cold Winter’ – “Gypsy Road” (#51), “Don’t Know What You Got (Til It’s Gone) (#12), “The Last Mile” (#36) and today’s Forgotten 45, “Coming Home” (#20).

I chose this to pay tribute to Jeff LaBar over the more obvious “Don’t Know What You Got…” because that song is about a person realizing the loss in their life, mourning the missing person. “Coming Home”, to me, is Jeff leaving worries, cares, and pain behind and following his “call home”.

RIP Jeff and Gary We’re glad we had you as long as we did.

*In the video below, you can see Jeff playing guitar on stage left, and once in a while, you’ll see Gary behind him, on keyboard.*
