105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows every weekend! This Saturday from 8 to noon Casey Kasem features the top songs from October 13th, 1979, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from The Knack with “Good Girls Don’t”.
The band played their first show in Los Angeles in 1978 and like most groups, was trying to get a record deal. Within a few months, they were jamming with stars like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen and were signed to a deal with Capitol Records. Their debut album “Get the Knack” was one of the biggest albums of 1979 featuring the #1 song of that year “My Sharona”. Their follow-up single was “Good Girls Don’t” a song that reached #1 in Canada and #11 in the U.S. They hit the top 40 charts just one more time before breaking up in 1982.
Some called them a rip-off of The Beatles, but it’s a catchy Forgotten 45 from The Knack it’s “Good Girls Don’t”!
