On this date one year ago Labor Day 2025 we lost my mom at the age of 83.  One of her all-time favorite groups was the Bee Gees, so in tribute to a beautiful person, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is dedicated to my mom, from the Bee Gees it’s “Too Much Heaven”.

Pastor Kay at First Lutheran Church used to talk about “Godinstance” moments.  Moments that happen in everyday life that can only be explained by divine intervention.  Well this morning on the Waters Wake-Up Call Mike mentioned that today was Barry Gibb’s 80th birthday.  How perfect is that?!  The only surviving Gibb brother, Barry has written or co-written 16 #1 songs and is a member of the Rock & Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame.

“Too Much Heaven” appears on their 1979 album “Spirits Having Flown” and the song went to #1 knocking Chic’s “Le Freak” out of the top spot.  Robin Gibb had often said he thought the song was one of his favorites.  The album delivered two more #1 songs with “Tragedy” and “Love You Inside Out”.

Happy Birthday to Barry Gibb and in memory of my mom, it’s the Bee Gees with “Too Much Heaven” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
