For the Monday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we wish a very Happy Birthday to Debbie Gibson!  She was only 16 years old when she wrote the songs for her debut album, she’s 56 today!  From her first album, it’s her first #1 song “Foolish Beat”.

Born on August 31st, 1970, Debbie became the first female artist to write, produce, and sing a #1 song when “Foolish Beat” topped the Billboard Hot 100.  Her debut album “Out of the Blue” was released in August of ’87 and was certified triple-platinum with hits like “Only In My Dreams”, “Shake Your Love”, the title track, and of course today’s Forgotten 45.

But like most teen idols, the success didn’t last long, she had one more #1 song with “Lost In Your Eyes” in ’89 and by the following year had released her final chart hit.  She’s been busy all these years, acting in TV, movies, and Broadway, and even appeared on a season of Dancing With the Stars.

Happy Birthday to Debbie Gibson!  Check out her video of “Foolish Beat” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
