The legendary Robert Plant is celebrating his 78th birthday today so for our Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to 1983 for the first solo hit from Mr. Plant, it’s “Big Log”.

You may have heard of Robert Plant, he was the front man of a little band called Led Zeppelin from 1968 to 1980.  In the Summer of 1983 he released his 2nd solo album “The Principle of Moments” and with help from Phil Collins who played drums on 8 of the tracks, the singer delivered his first top 40 hit with “Big Log”.  The tune was written in the dead of winter and Plant said they were out of wood for their fire, so they found the remains of an old tree outside.  A Big Log indeed. The song went to #20 on the charts and the video was shot in California and Nevada.

One of the most influential singers of all-time, Happy Birthday to the great Robert Plant.  “Big Log” is today’s Forgotten 45.
