Happy 250th America!  This weekend we’ll bring you three classic American Top 40 shows!  Friday from 10a-2p it’s #1 Songs of the 80’s from ’87-’88.  Saturday we take you back to June 26th, 1976, and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is an extra on Sunday’s show from July 3rd of 1982.  From Kim Wilde it’s “Kids in America”.

The song was Kim’s first big hit, inspired by the sounds of Gary Numan and OMD’s synth-pop style, “Kids in America” went to #1 in Finland and South Africa, #2 in England and several other countries around the world.  In the U.S. the song went to #25 on the charts where it stayed for a month.  It ended up being one of the top 100 songs of 1982. She would hit the American charts one more time with her #1 remake of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” in 1987.
