It was on this date in 1991 that the Chicago Bulls led by Michael Jordan won their first NBA title! Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was on the charts June 12th, 1991, it’s from UB40 with “Here I Am (Come And Take Me)”.
The song was a remake of the 1973 Al Green tune, Reverend Al took his version of the song to #10 on the chart. But English-Reggae group UB40 surpassed that by reaching #7 on the Hot 100. In all, UB40 had 5 American hits, including the #1 songs “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You”. In fact 4 of those 5 songs were covers.
The Bulls defeated the Lakers 4 games to 1 in 1991 NBA Finals on this date 35 years ago! It was the first of the 6 championship trophies the Bulls led by Pippen & Jordan would raise in the 90’s.
