Welcome to the Monday edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45! For today’s tune, we go back to the charts on May 18th, 1985 for “Suddenly” by Billy Ocean.
Billy Ocean hit the Top 40 for the first time in the States with his 1976 song “Love Really Hurts Without You”, but he really hit his stride with his 1984 album “Suddenly” which featured his first #1 song “Caribbean Queen” along with the #2 hit “Loverboy”. “Suddenly” the title track was his third hit from the album reaching #4.
He continued that string of success in the 80’s with two more #1 songs “There’ll Be Sad Songs” and “When The Going Gets Tough”. Billy is playing a group of shows over the next month in England.
