The legendary musician, songwriter, and producer Brian Eno is celebrating his 78th birthday today. For the Friday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1975 for a band he helped form, Roxy Music with “Love Is the Drug”.
One of the most influential people in rock & roll, the English singer worked with legends like David Bowie, the Talking Heads, U2 and more. Back in 1970 waiting for a train, he met sax player Andy MacKay and they formed Roxy Music. Eno was only a member for their first two albums, but his innovative approach to music helped formed the group.
Roxy Music featuring Bryan Ferry on vocals only had one American top 40 hit with “Love Is The Drug” a song went top 5 in England and Canada and to #30 in the States. The band along with Brian Eno were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
Happy Birthday to Brian Eno. Check out Roxy Music with “Love Is The Drug” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
