This Sunday morning at 8 on American Top 40 the 80’s, Casey Kasem features the top songs from February 8th, 1986! That’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Mike + The Mechanics with “Silent Running”.
Originally designed as a side project away from Genesis, Mike Rutherford of the band formed with vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young as well as Adrian Lee and Peter Van Hooke in 1985. They released their self-titled debut album in the Fall of ’85 and “Silent Running” was the first hit becoming a top 10 hit in Canada, Germany, and in the United States where the song went to #6 on the charts.
The group had two more top 10 hits in the 80’s with “All I Need is a Miracle”, and their only #1 song “The Living Years”. Check out Mike + the Mechanics with “Silent Running”. The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. Look for them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
