This Sunday morning at 8 105.7 KOKZ brings you American Top 40 the 80’s as Casey Kasem features the top songs from February 7th, 1981. One of the great songs you’ll hear on the show is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45. From Styx it’s “The Best of Times”.
The band from Chicago had a great run of multi-platinum albums from 1977 to 1983 with classics like “The Grand Illusion”, “Pieces of Eight”, and “Cornerstone”. In January of ’81 they released “Paradise Theatre”. “The Best of Times” was the first single from the triple platinum album and the song went to #1 in Canada and #3 in the U.S.
Despite the success of the tune, the song hasn’t been played regularly by the band on tour since Dennis DeYoung left Styx in 1999. Though DeYoung has performed the song on his show dates.
From AT40 this Sunday, it’s Styx with “The Best of Times”. Today’s Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
