Welcome to the Friday Forgotten 45 at 3:45! All this week I’ve been featuring song that were on the chart 40 years ago in January of 1986. Today’s choice is a one hit wonder, from Scritti Politti it’s “Perfect Way”.
The British band was formed in 1977 by Green Gartside while he was studying fine art in Leeds. Originally inspired by the Sex Pistols, the band over time transitioned to a more commercial sound, reaching the British top 40 five different times, but not with “Perfect Way” which became the group’s only American Hit reaching #11 on the Hot 100.
One critic at the time said the song was “well crafted, but it packs all the punch of a neutered Sussudio!”. Ouch! It’s still a fun Friday Forgotten 45 and allows me to say Scritti Politti! Check out the video for “Perfect Way” and have a great weekend!
