The Iowa Hawkeyes are in Los Angeles tomorrow afternoon to face the USC Trojans at 2:30 on Big Ten Network. The forecast looks just awful, with a 100% chance of rain.  So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1972 for Albert Hammond and “It Never Rains in Southern California”.

The British singer was born in London and moved to the U.S. in 1970 to pursue his music career.  Most of his success came as a songwriter penning songs for Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Chicago, Air Supply and more.  As a solo artist in the States, he recorded two Top 40 hits, “I’m A Train” and his biggest tune “It Never Rains in Southern California” a #5 hit on showbiz failures.

For the second week in a row, the Hawks will be in the rain.  Check out Albert performing “It Never Rains in Southern California” on the Midnight Special.  The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store.  You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
