Glenn Frey from the Eagles was born on this date in 1948, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 I have his last solo top 40 hit, from 1988 it’s “True Love”.
Born in Detroit on November 6th, 1948 and after graduating high school he met Bob Seger who helped Glenn get his first record deal, and Frey played on Seger’s hit “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”. In 1969 Glenn moved to California and met Don Henley the next year, and the rest is rock and roll history!
He went solo in 1982 and recorded seven top 40 hits in the 80’s, the biggest being the #2 hits “The Heat is On” and “You Belong to the City”. In 1988 he released his 3rd solo album “Soul Searchin” which featured the #13 hit “True Love”.
Glenn Frey passed away in 2016 at the far too young age of 67. On what would’ve been his 77th birthday it’s Glenn with “True Love”.
