105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows every weekend! Sunday from 8 to noon Casey Kasem features the top songs from November 3rd, 1984. That just so happened to be my sister Amy’s 14th birthday, so today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is dedicated to her and is on the show Sunday, from New Edition it’s “Cool It Now”!
The group of friends from Boston were the “New Edition” of the Jackson 5 and were the blueprint of more boy bands to follow. Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, and Mike had 8 top 40 hits and “Cool It Now” was their first, reaching #4 from their self-titled album in 1984.
New Edition just announced they’ll be on tour starting in January with Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton. An early birthday gift for my sister, it’s New Edition with “Cool It Now”. Today’s Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
