This Sunday morning at 8 on American Top 40 the 80’s Casey Kasem takes us back to September 27th, 1986! One of the great songs you’ll hear on the show is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Run DMC and Aerosmith it’s “Walk This Way”.
The song was one of two Aerosmith songs to reach the top 10 in the 70’s, “Dream On” was the other. Appearing on their “Toys in the Attic” album, “Walk This Way” went to #10. 9 years later, Rick Rubin was working with Run DMC on their new album “Raising Hell” when he put on the classic Aerosmith album. Rubin suggested that they remake the song.
They brought in Steven Tyler and Joe Perry and recorded the track which they never intended to release as a single. But the song started getting airplay on both rock and rap stations and the new version of “Walk This Way” went even higher on the charts reaching #4 in 1986.
Bursting through your speakers today is Run DMC with Aerosmith with “Walk This Way”! The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
