Since the weather feels like Georgia, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from the Charlie Daniels Band with their 1979 classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”!
Charlie Daniels music blended rock, country, blues, and jazz and was a pioneer for his contribution to Southern Rock and progressive country. First hitting the charts in 1973 with “Uneasy Rider” and songs like “The South’s Gonna Do It Again”. By far his biggest hit was “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
Apparently when CDB was recording their album, they realized they didn’t have a song featuring the fiddle, thus a classic was born! A song that reached #3 this date in 1979 and #1 on the country charts. Check out the Charlie Daniels Band with “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
