Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45! For today’s tune we go back to the charts on September 9th, 1978 for Little River Band with “Reminiscing”!
The band from Australia sold over 30 million copies worldwide and recorded ten Top 20 hits including the top ten’s “Lonesome Loser” and “Lady”. Their biggest chart hit in America was “Reminiscing” a song that went all the way to #3 in 1978. Written by the band’s Graeham Goble, he said he was looking for inspiration from old black and white movies.
When LRB delivered their album “Sleeper Catcher” to the record label, they told them they didn’t hear any hits! But one very smart person in the Capitol Records office in New York said “you’re crazy, Reminiscing is a smash!” The rest is history.
