It’s National Dog Day! So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1971 for Lobo with “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo”.
The song was the debut hit for Lobo aka Kent LaVoie, as the story goes he was working on writing several songs including one about traveling around the country with a girl and was trying to find something that rhymed with “you and me”. Instead he flipped it to “me and you” and was sitting at home when his big German Shepherd dog “Boo” came around the corner and looked at him. The rest is history!
The song was a #5 hit in the States, was a top 5 in England and a multi-week #1 song in New Zealand. Celebrating our pups with “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo” by Lobo, it’s today’s doggone good Forgotten 45!
