Can you believe it’s already been 33 years since the Dream Team took home the gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics?! For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to August of ’92 for Genesis and “Hold on My Heart”.
1992 was the first year that Team USA sent NBA players to the Olympic games and what a team! Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and more stormed their way through the competition winning their games by an average of almost 44 points. In fact Charles Barkley was quoted before a game and said “I don’t know anything about Angola, but Angola is in trouble”! Team USA won the gold defeating Croatia 117-85.
The same time in the Summer of 1992, Genesis recorded their 10th and final top 20 hit as “Hold On My Heart” went to #12 on the Hot 100. The song appears on their “We Can’t Dance” album which was the last one to feature Phil Collins on vocals and drums.
