105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows from the 70’s and 80’s every weekend!  This Saturday morning at 9 join Casey Kasem for the top songs from August 7th, 1971, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Paul Revere & the Raiders with “Indian Reservation”.

In 1970 The Raiders were looking for new material to record when a record executive suggested “Indian Reservation”.  The song was first recorded in 1959 by Marvin Rainwater and it went unnoticed.  It was recorded again in 1968 by Don Fardon who made the song a #20 hit.  But it was the Paul Revere & the Raiders version that went to #1 in the summer of 1971, becoming their first and only #1 hit.

I found a video of a young Kenny Rogers introducing The Raiders performing “Indian Reservation” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
