The Tom Cruise classic “Risky Business” hit theaters on August 5th, 1983, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 a song that was on the charts this week 42 years ago and it appears on the soundtrack, from Journey it’s “After the Fall”.
“Risky Business” was one of the biggest movies of 1983 starring Cruise and Rebecca DeMornay. Joel dancing in his underwear to Bob Seger! Guido the killer pimp! A Porsche falling into Lake Michigan! Sex on the train! What a great movie!
Journey was doing very well in ’83 as well with “After the Fall” the third hit from their “Frontiers” album, the song went to #23 on the charts that summer and the tune also appears on the Risky Business soundtrack that also featured music from Prince, Phil Collins, and of course Bob Seger.
Looks like it’s going to be the University of Illinois for Joel! Celebrating “Risky Business” with Journey’s “After the Fall” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
