On August 4th, 1987 the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack was released, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, from the movie and soundtrack it’s Patrick Swayze with “She’s Like the Wind”.
The movie starred Swayze and Jennifer Gray (nobody puts Baby in the corner!) who fall in love working at a resort in the Catskills. It was a massive hit, making over 200 million dollars at the box office and becoming an 80’s classic.
Like many films in that decade, the soundtrack album was equally successful selling over 32 million copies worldwide and delivering the hit “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley which won a Grammy Award and “She’s Like the Wind”, a #3 hit for Patrick in the U.S. and became a top ten hit in nine other countries.
