Kicking off the new week of Forgotten 45’s is a song that was a hit in the summer of 1985. A one-hit wonder, it’s Paul Hardcastle with “19”.
The British musician was inspired to write the song after watching Vietnam Requiem, when Paul compared his life at 19 verses those young soldiers fighting in the war. The combination of a monotone narration and a heavy electronic beat made the song a big hit around the world. “19” was a #1 hit in England, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, and more. In the United States the song reached #15.
