In a career where she recorded 15 albums, she only had one top 40 hit. “Chuck E’s in Love” appears on her self-titled ’79 debut album that went platinum and earned her 4 Grammy Award nominations, including a win for Best New Artist.
It was her appearance as a virtual unknown on Saturday Night Live in April of that year that made her an overnight sensation as “Chuck E’s in Love” went to #4 on the charts to become her biggest hit song.
