For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we celebrate the 67th birthday of Neil Finn, the lead singer of Crowded House with their 1987 hit “Something So Strong”.
The band out of Australia and New Zealand was formed in 1985 after the break-up of Split Enz with Neil, Paul Hester, and Nick Seymour. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1986 and while the band had success at home and in Europe, they only had two big hits in the United States. “Don’t Dream It’s Over” reached #2 and “Something So Strong” was also a top ten hit, reaching #7 in the summer of ’87.
The band is currently on a break, but they will be playing a show this October at a Formula One race in Singapore. Check out the video to “Something So Strong” by Crowded House, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
