Welcome to the Monday Forgotten 45 at 3:45! Today we wish Billy Squier a very happy 75th birthday by playing his final top 40 hit “Rock Me Tonite”.
Billy Squier was everywhere in the early 80’s starting with his triple-platinum album “Don’t Say No” which delivered hits like “The Stroke”, “In the Dark”, and “My Kinda Lover” In 1984 he released his follow-up LP “Signs of Life” which also went platinum with sales over a million copies. The lead single from that project was “Rock Me Tonite” which became his biggest pop hit reaching #15 on the charts.
But while MTV certainly made the careers of so many artists, the video for “Rock Me Tonight” might have killed Billy Squier’s career. Many consider the video to one of the worst of all-time! You can decide by watching “Rock Me Tonite” it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
